Powder Coat Painter 2nd ShiftThe Powder Coat Painter plays a key role in preparing, coating, and finishing fabricated metal products in a fast-paced production environment on 2nd shift. This position focuses on high-quality powder coating, accurate surface preparation, and thorough inspection of finished parts while working safely in a non-climate-controlled facility that can become very hot during the summer months.ResponsibilitiesPrepare metal components for powder coating by cleaning, sanding, masking, and performing detailed surface preparation.Apply powder coatings using electrostatic spray equipment while consistently meeting quality and production standards.Monitor coating thickness, coverage, and finish quality to ensure all products meet required specifications.Load and unload parts from paint lines, racks, carts, and curing ovens in a safe and efficient manner.Perform visual inspections on coated parts and complete touch-ups or rework as needed to maintain quality.Maintain paint equipment, spray guns, and work areas to ensure safe, clean, and efficient operations.Follow all safety procedures related to personal protective equipment (PPE), chemicals, powder coating materials, and production equipment.Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and quality requirements to complete jobs accurately and on time.Collaborate closely with fabrication, welding, and production teams to support overall manufacturing goals.Assist with other production-related duties as assigned to support team and facility needs.Essential SkillsExperience with powder coating, industrial painting, automotive painting, or manufacturing is preferred.Hands-on experience using spray equipment and understanding of coating applications is a plus.Ability to read and follow work instructions, work orders, and product specifications accurately.Strong attention to detail with a consistent commitment to quality and finish standards.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a production team.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and remain on your feet throughout the shift.Capability to perform standing, bending, lifting, reaching, and repetitive movements for extended periods.Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, and manufacturing conditions.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious experience in a fabrication, metalworking, or manufacturing environment.Background in paint preparation, including cleaning, sanding, and masking parts.Familiarity with powder coat painting processes and paint prep techniques.Willingness to work overtime, including extended weekdays and occasional weekends, based on production needs.Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with fabrication, welding, and production teams.Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic in a fast-paced production setting.Why Work Here?This role offers a stable, long-term opportunity with a growing fabrication manufacturer, providing consistent hours and the potential for overtime. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided for safe operation around powder coating materials, chemicals, and production equipment. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM on 2nd shift, with overtime required based on workload and customer demand, which may include extended weekdays and occasional weekends.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
